Administration
The administration consists of the council, the board, and the teams
Council
The council of Tampere Engineers has various tasks: it sets the framework for the association’s board activities and decides how much we pay monthly for our membership. The council decides how the association’s activities should be developed annually. Additionally, the council approves the association’s regulations. Thus, council members can influence how Tampere Engineers serve their members.
Council’s Autumn and Spring Meetings
The agenda of the council’s autumn and spring meetings focuses on the use of the association’s funds. The spring meeting is held in March-April and the autumn meeting in October-November.
In the council’s autumn meeting, the association’s action plan and budget for the following calendar year are approved. The meeting also decides on the board members’ remuneration and travel expenses, among other things. Additionally, the chairman of the board for the next calendar year is elected, the size of the board is determined, and board members are elected to replace those whose terms are expiring.
The council’s spring meeting deals with the financial statements, the auditors’ statement, and the board’s activity report from the previous term. If everything is in order, the financial statements are confirmed, and a decision is made on granting discharge from liability to those responsible for the finances.
Council Elections – Who, When, How?
Information about council elections can be found in the member newsletter and other essential communication channels of the association when they are relevant. Council elections are always initiated according to the rules in the previous spring before the new council is due to start. The actual election takes place in the fall.
Eligible for election are the association’s members with voting rights. A board member is disqualified from serving as a council member.
If there are more council member candidates than the maximum number of council members, a council election is conducted by postal vote or electronic voting.
The next council will be elected in 2026 for the term 2027-2029.

Board
The term of office for a board member is two calendar years. Half of the board is up for election every year. This means that the term of office for half of the board members ends every year. Thus, the board always consists of both old and new board members. The board includes a chairman, 2 vice-chairmen, a treasurer, 4–6 board members, and 2 student members. The chairman is elected every year at the council meeting. The board elects vice-chairmen, a treasurer, and team leaders from among themselves.
The board runs regular operations and implements the guidelines approved by the council. These include the rules, action plan, and strategy. The board meets about once a month and also meets in teams and at events.

Team Activities
Any member can be part of a team, with leaders selected from the board. Teams carry out operational activities with the office staff. The teams include leisure, young member, work life and advocacy, as well as communication teams. In addition, the board may create new teams/working groups/committees as needed. Teams meet about once a month to plan for the future. Through teams, it’s easy to get acquainted with and participate in TI’s activities!
Teams always seek new members at the end of the year for the coming year. A team’s term is one year, but one may continue in the team’s activities for as many years as desired.
